18 holers LWGA rules etiquette tips

LF/SLWGA LOCAL RULES OF PLAY

1.  Members of LF/SLWGA with handicaps from previous years and new members with established and verified handicaps from another club will start play and compete with those handicaps.   (Excluding the Championship Tournament.)

2.  New members must establish a handicap by posting five (5) any-day score cards from LaFortune or South Lakes 18 hole course in order to compete in Play Day events.  (Unless they qualify as stated in rule #1.)

3.  Score cards must be turned in and posted on each day of play to maintain fair and equitable handicaps and to qualify for awards.

4.  Balls may be marked and moved only on the green or the FRINGE (first cut from the green) and NOT on the longer cuts around the green.

5.  Sign-up sheets for the following week's play will be posted in the locker room.  The pairings chairman will pair and notify one person in each foursome of their starting time.  That member will then notify the other players in her group of the scheduled tee time if they do not have e-mail.  It is important that each player report to the starter at least 30 minutes before her scheduled tee time.

6.  A list of scheduled players will be furnished to the Pro Shop by noon on Monday.  If you need to cancel, call the pairings chairman by 8:00 p.m. on Sunday or call the Pro Shop after Monday morning to play or cancel before the Thursday Tee-time.

7.  The first group on a play day should straighten the tee markers if they are not lined up correctly.

8.  Gimmie Putts are given if you are within 18 inches from the cup.  This is done in order to speed up play.  Be sure to have your putter marked in the Pro Shop.  If your ball is anywhere in the mark or shorter, it is a gimmie.  (Please note:  You MUST PUTT OUT IN TOURNAMENT PLAY.  No gimmies are to be given.)

9.  Your score will not be considered for prizes if you pick up on play days, but you may post your adjusted scores.

10. Players in the Spring Tournament must participate on both play days.

11. A weekly play day shall be official only if a total of 10 or more members compete.  Awards must be presented to winners of each flight.

12. On LaFortune's hole #16, if you hit one ball in the water, take a penalty and proceed to the drop area located east of the cart path in back of the tree to hit your next shot.

13. All players participating in LFWGA play-day shall trade scorecards with another participating player in their group.
